P38A Mechanics, FIP and timing chain investigation

Morning BigAd, Try Allroad Automotive in Tadcaster, they’re ex Land Rover so should be able to advise if their knowledge extends to P38’s. Failing that Moorside 4x4 in Kirkbymoorside have served me well in the past. Good luck. Tricky :)

    Multiple issues, mechanic stumped

Hi just wanted to say plus one to all of the above suggestions and add that if you’ve only just bought it you could benefit from leaving all the doors open in a warm garage for a few days, check the boot for water and invest in some cabin dehumidifier pillows because it’s a good chance it’s been...

    L322 L322 air suspension noise

Hi Jack, wondering how you are getting on or if you bottled it like me and bought a new unit complete. There are varying degrees of success with these kits and after doing one on my first L322 I decided, can’t be bothered to do it again plus the second car was in a lot better condition overall...

    HELP and ADVICE PLEASE.

Looks well dodgy to me. Agree with the walk away advice. Personally I prefer 2005 onward but in any event find the best you can afford and keep £2,000 in the bank for unforeseen surprises. My rule is check everything works and any history should make it easier to sort the wheat from the chaff...

    Range

An easy find I’d say, well done. I think they were thrown by the bush still being attached. A new wishbone may be required also? Tricky :)

Other How's your Heart.... and other Ailments

You have my good wishes for a speedy and successful treatment. I’ve many ailments that restrict almost everything I do and was able to fight off bladder tumours several years ago. To be honest I use my Range as occupational therapy. Tricky

    L322 Suspension Mis-Hap

Unfortunately, these watches were originally penned under BMW management not Audi. That may stir a reaction! Sorry but I’ve own several Audi’s, all superb machines. Tricky :)

    Usual abs hdc suspension fault

Sorry, forgot to say the fan sound behind the battery should be the fuse box cooling fan that runs on after turning of ignition. Also have you done a correctly staged turn off ignition and battery disconnection as this could help reset the various electronic systems. Worked for me on a few...

    Usual abs hdc suspension fault

Hi, is this a new acquisition? If so have you checked your battery condition and cleared any historical faults before changing parts? I’m on my second L322 and have had many duff faults pop into the display of both, usually after a period on non-use, that end up as nothing when checked out. Also...

    L322 Suspension Mis-Hap

Same - the problem is that it’s assembled without grease so the seizure goes all the way through to the bolt head. Nightmare but it will give eventually, just when is the big question. Seriously try the freeze/release spray it can’t make it any worse. Tricky

    L322 Suspension Mis-Hap

If you do try the freeze products then you’ll probably need to empty a few cans on it. Then wait about ten minutes before trying to turn it. Fingers crossed but when mine eventually came free they were still resisting to the end.

    L322 Suspension Mis-Hap

Mine were the same. Heat if you can. If not loads of penetrating fluid and a lump hammer. There are freeze and penetrating sprays that can work well in some applications if your still struggling. Good luck. Tricky :)

P38A How does water get here then?

That’s why all the advice about using talcum power to track the water. It is very possible that it’s coming from the bolt locations under the folds of the metal plate. That’s exactly the terrain in the L322 boot that I found the water path. Perhaps someone knows how that section of body is...
