Hi all, My P38 should be back on the road soon. The Mrs and I did a spot of very basic greenlaning recently but I would be interested in going out with people that know what they’re doing. I’ve done a bit of off roading in the past but experience is definitely limited! Thanks!

That’s what we’re doing. Getting fuel through on most injectors now but the starter was getting too hot so called it a day as to not destroy the starter

Update time: after managing to fix the rovacom we couldn’t talk to the Ecu. Finally found that the engine cut out fuse was broke (Wasn’t initially). Replaced that, rebuilt it and the glow lamps and check engine light are behaving as they should. Now it’s nearly starting, just too much air in...

Brian is back and between us managed to fix his rovacom. It’s now reading the air suspension but cannot read the Engine ECU. We’re now leaning towards ECU being dead... continuing to try

Found this. Appears to be quite loose and there is a wire coming from this to the 4th injector so I’d assume this is the temp sensor?

I’m trying to find a temp sensor locally now. Euro don’t stock them annoyingly

Is the MIL light the injector spread one? If so yes, it does stay on the whole time. Just been to see a Land Rover specialist who reckons it’s the glow relay but I’m not convinced as it’s getting power and clicks. Annoyingly his Nanocom is out on loan!

Update: new fuel solenoid in. Hot fox removed. Still no change. I’ve done a short video to show what glow light is doing

One red herring I forgot to mention was that when I discovered the hot fix box I also discovered that the earth wire had come away from the scotch lock. This was most likely during my manhandling of the ECU as it looked like a fresh break. I have reconnected that wire now and still the light...

Pretty sure the glow light is still working as when you crank it over you can just about see a very dull shimmer. I'll get a video later if I remember.

Oh yea it is, it's just been done using scotch locks and been cut very close to the wiring sleeve!

OK interesting. I'll try that this evening. Disconnecting hot start will be more difficult than you'd think due to way it's wired in!

I put the multi meter from the relay fuse to earth and was getting 12.5v so one would assume that means it's properly functioning.

Haha not quite - but progress is being made... Brian has popped over this evening but we can't get his diag box to talk to my car. What we are currently unsure of is whether my car is not talking to the nanocom (or whatever it is) or whether something is awry with the software / diag hardware...

I'd agree with that. I hear some terrifying stories through work along the lines of 'my mate did this and it was fine'. Seen some proper death traps come through the doors with excuses like that.
