P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

Think I've got to the bottom of it. Leak off pipe between injectors 2 & 3 is damp and there's a fair bit of fuel down there. Just ordered some pipe so will see what happens.

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

Yea we replaced the temp sensor with another one, as part of the process of elimination. Funnily enough the replacement sensor didn't work and showed up on diag that it was faulty. We replaced it with the old sensor and that issue went away. For peace of mind I'll order a new sensor but pretty...

Yea was 12v. They are Beru plugs and they don’t look all that old.

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

Glow plugs were bench tested and all six work just fine. Perhaps something electrical between the relay and the plugs but the plugs themselves are all fine. I have just thought though... the wiring on the hot start is a bit dodgy and the temp sensor wire is loose - probably got something to do...

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

Yea it was a little on the low side, the gearbox oil cooler has a small leak and has been that way ever since I’ve had it. Topped it up with 1L earlier and seems to be a bit better but overheat warning is still there. Another one of the many jobs to sort out over the coming weeks. I’ll address...

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

So I feel like a bit of a tit, with this gearbox thing... driven up to Stanstead tonight to pick a mate up, found out why I wasn’t getting 4th... bloody sport mode was on! Turned it off, and yay 4th gear! Being a short arse my preferred driving position actually obscured the dash display screen...

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

Tested all six plugs yesterday. They are all working fine, glowing red hot. Could well be the leak off pipes as they got pulled around alot when moving the manifold. I'll do some investigation tomorrow. I'm hoping that's the case, I know it has been leaking from the cooler so hopefully just...

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

What happened to me? I decided to leave the car alone and drown my sorrows in my local pub on a daily basis, whilst accepting the fact that I was destined to spend my days driving the Peugeot 206 as my Mrs has very kindly relieved me of my Boxster for the summer... What actually happened is not...

I bought a can of easy start today... gonna give that a bash tomorrow and hope for the best. I suspect if I can start it then the rest should take care of itself... fingers crossed.

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

Leak off pipes all appear to be ok. Lift pump appears to be fine. I think if I had enough patience / battery life and starter motor longevity then we would be ok. It is so, so close to starting. I don’t want to use easy start either but I’m not far off that

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

Yea I’ve figured that now. It’s getting close to starting but the starter motor keeps getting too hot so don’t wanna risk it

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

^^ doesn’t appear to do anything. Forgive my lack of knowledge on the workings of a mechanical fuel pump but I’d imagine that the pump needs to be turning in order to get fuel through?

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

Yea I know that will run the lift pump but will it bleed the system? I’m trying to avoid constantly cranking it over to save the starter

P38A [RESOLVED!] P38 DSE non start - fuel issue

@wammers - just about to head out and start work on the car. Just had a thought - for bleeding the air out of the fuel lines would bridging the in tank pump do the job? Just trying to avoid damaging starter motor

Ah ok this is becoming more and more of a minefield... I’ll refit it for now and if I keep the car long term I plan to sort the fuel pump anyway
