Disco 2 Anyone ever removed the rubber side trims?

I'm going to a truck that is being broken tomorrow to remove the thick rubber door trim/bumpers but not quite sure how to remove them without damage so I can refit them to mine. Are they just glued on with 3m tape or similar? Any idea of the best way to safely remove them?

    Disco 2 Rear spring removal

Changing to supporting the chassis made all the difference although the spring compressor did help insomuch as I didn't need to force the axle down - it just came away easily. Had to order a new top isolator as mine was rotten, and now I can attack the holes in the chassis behind the spring...

    Disco 2 Rear spring removal

Can anyone help on removing the rear springs on a D2 - they seem to be different from the write up on the D1. I have jacked up the truck, removed the rear wheel, supported the chassis on axle stands and undone the shock absorber bottom bolt, undone the antiroll bar drop link and installed a...

Absolutely - it's just so straightforward and easy to work on! Best tool I have purchased for working on her - a 900mm breaker bar :)

Next job - remove and swap over the wheels. After being conned by a dismantler in Dimchurch, Kent (long story which will come later) I got around to swapping over my refurbished alloys for the junk that is currently on the truck. Jacked her up, put the axle stands underneath, removed all 5...

No, never apologise for reminding us of basic safety protocols :) The problem of course is the Disco is up on ramps and I'm crawling around on the floor (hence the tidy whities - the wife took one look at my waxoyl drenched work clothes and made me take them off at the door :) ) Wearing a helmet...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

As it was a nice warm day I decided to waxoyl spray the inside of the chassis and sills - so pulled out the compressor and shultz gun, put a 5l can of waxoyl on the radiator and got under the truck to make a start. Wife called me for a coffee, I moved and ...... bloody tow bar!!!!!!!

Disco 2 TD5 Oil pump bolt

Anyone remember the old Molyslip and Slick50 adverts - they ran the engine for some time with no oil I believe and with no damage after they treated the engine. Never believed it at the time but maybe it might be an idea for a TD5 :)

Disco 2 Disco 2 help reqd

I have a welder and attempted to do it myself but welding a rusty chassis upside down is probably not the best way to learn :) So I cleaned up the area and supplied the metal plates to the shop and they welded it for me - took 1.5 hours. If they had had to do the prep then it would have been 4...

Then you find a really good welder and he does this for you. You are at one with the car (at last, and only for a short while I'm sure LOL)

Disco 2 Disco 2 help reqd

What you need is one of these... And then after a few minutes (seconds) you get one or more of these Regardless of the amount of underseal etc trying to hide them, I think most Disco 2's have them :)

I also think that the biggest problem was the introduction of gassless mig welders. With an 'old fashioned' arc welder, you had to create a weld pool otherwise the rod would just stick so you either got great penetration or a big hole. The gassless mig can just deposit weld material on the...

I think every Discovery owner should learn to weld before purchasing a Disco. I'm waiting for my local college to start evening classes :)
