110 defender rebuild project and v8 conversion

So, progress update and a quick Q at the end: Last weekend I whipped out the old rear half shafts and replaced them with the new ones I ordered a while back. Also replaced all 4 drive flanges. The leaves only the inner front half shafts which are potentially a bit aged, but they didn't seem too...

    For Sale Saab spares?

I think he's been downsizing for a while, I remember reading about it on UK Saabs forum a while ago. I just missed out on a new rear decor panel for my 9000 anni. :(

    Lambda sensor position - 14CUX

Pete - yes I need a boss welding on each collector, I was going to ask zircotec if they can do it just before ceramic coating. Cooltide - cheer for that. The scrap yard on the driveway is now just the old chassis from the 1998 defender. The disco which donated the engine used to belong to a...

    Lambda sensor position - 14CUX

April 1994 was the first registered date. I thought 1992 was the cut off point for cat spec testing... And 1994 for imports only?

    Lambda sensor position - 14CUX

Hi Kev, yes a pic would be great if you can manage it. My engine in from a 1994 Disco, and my shell/chassis is of 1998 defender vintage, so whichever way you slice it - I need a cat. Which means I've got to get this sensor stuff planned out properly.

    Lambda sensor position - 14CUX

Hi All, I've been wondering about the Lambda sensor positioning for my rebuilt v8. The loom and ECU is all circa 14CUX 1994 3.9 disco v8. The problem comes with the introduction of a new manifold - I've bought some hedman headers, and obviously they're quite long, and are 4-1 configuration. I...

110 defender rebuild project and v8 conversion

I had an adventure of the Luton-van kind yesterday.... drove oop north in a rental van to collect a rear tub from a 2006 model. It's even in keswick green! £317 on ebay... bargain I though. It's not 100% perfect, but it's a whole load better than my crumbling one. I've taken the cappings off my...

    4.2 v8 rebuild - recommendations?

I used John Eales in Lutterworth for my rebuild - obviously it was a bit more than you're looking at, but still within the rang of stuff he does I imagine. Besides, you're probably not after a rebuild to factory standard, as you'll want the slipping liners defect fixed -so top hat liners.

    Allisport - fail!

Hi All, A little review for anyone doing their own self build (or upgrades) and wanting to get some shiny bits from Allisport.... don't bother! I first engaged them (via email) on Feb 19th this year. This is after several failed attempts to get them on the phone. I was told that they were very...

110 defender rebuild project and v8 conversion

In a slight odd turn of events, Alutec told me that they can help me with the oil cooler, but that I should speak to rad-tech about the radiator. I dutifully spoke with radtech, who can actually manage the whole thing, and will just buy in the core for the oil cooler from alutec. Here's the...

110 defender rebuild project and v8 conversion

yeah I really struggled to get stuck in to begin with, especially with both the house and garage still partially in moving boxes. We're had some very very good news in the last week, but it's less good for the landy! Offer accepted, valuation agreed, mortgage approved!!!!! Looks like we will be...

110 defender rebuild project and v8 conversion

apologies for the slow progress of late. Much of our free time had been taken up with smallholding viewings and that sort of thing. My other half and I managed to get the fuel tank fitted yesterday... that's a pig of a job -not aided by the dinitrol I put on the bottom of the tank and top of...

    What's the best penetrating fluid?

they should, but most only stock WD and 3-in-1 nowadays sadly. I've tried them all over the country as we've moved around... stafforshire, leicestershire, hampshire, berkshire...

    What's the best penetrating fluid?

I used to use plusgas, but can never find it in motorfactors shops these days. I started using duck-oil instead. a mate swears by it.

amr3449 - chassis wiring harness - where to source?!

ahhh LR440 seems to be a different loom for older chassis numbers of 200tdi. yes the plugs... that'll be it. I suppose as long as they can be sourced, it's ok.
