Disco 1 v8 fuel filter thread check please!

nope, wouldn't work with the length of banjos bolts on there - they wouldn't seal up against the washer. then I;d be switching to a carb spec filter and all that crap... I want to keep this as standard as humanly possible. If I can say that the end of this that everthing is either 1998 300tdi...

Disco 1 v8 fuel filter thread check please!

so, on further research, it seems I need a viton washer (fuel safe rubber) in tap/hose style. according to the verniers, the exact dimensions are 14.2mm OD and 9.6mm ID. In reality I hope I can find something with a 13 or 14mm OD and a 10mm ID.

Disco 1 v8 fuel filter thread check please!

looks to me like the simplest solution is still a fuel-proof tap washer. both side of the blue adapter mate internally, not exernally, so I'm feeling that that's what I should work with. a bit of research on fuel-proof washer materials next. I remember having to do this for technical scuba...

Disco 1 v8 fuel filter thread check please!

Ok. The adapter fitting doesnt nip up anywhere near far enough for a copper washer then. Tap washer it must be... but in some sort of fuel-safe material. Is that dowty washer an internal thing? Never seen one of those!

Disco 1 v8 fuel filter thread check please!

Thanks both. Tap washer being a flat, internal washer I'm assuming? What's a dowty washer James? Will a copper washer go inside the fitting and crush up against the face of the male adapter?

Fair point, I should be able to test that. Thanks.

110 defender rebuild project and v8 conversion

The simple answer is I don't know. I see why you asked though... It does look short in that photo. I forget where I bought it from, but it was a Goodrich kit for this model. 2 front lines and the 1 rear. With no weight on the backend currently, I suppose this should represent maximum travel...

It's the inline fuel filter for the HP fuel set up. Exactly the same as a 3.9 v8 disco 1.

    transmission brake drive flange

Thanks James. Yes I guess it's not at all worn, I just didn't know if all the circlips and what not had to come off to! If it's just that poxy grub screw then I should be able to recover the original. There is a massive nut in the collection of "handbrake drum bits" and I couldn't figure out...

110 defender rebuild project and v8 conversion

Well this is what the garage looks like at the moment: And this is what I need to figure out a way of fitting: I also realised I hadn't fitted the handbrake drum yet, so that's next to build up.

    transmission brake drive flange

Hi all, another part number question.... I ordered a new bearmach brake drum for the handbrake, along with new shoes and the spring kit. What I don't seem to have is a new drive flange with my new brake drum. Is the drive flange only held on by the single grub screw? can anyone tell me the...

Disco 1 v8 fuel filter thread check please!

Thanks for the input all. This is what I have thus far: As you can see, the blue thing is being used as a reducer from m16x1.5 (filter) to -6jic. Then the silver bit is -6jic to male 8mm tail. My question now is, how can I seal these fittings? Both to each other, and the blue adapter to...

Disco 1 v8 fuel filter thread check please!

did some more digging.... a few online parts sites say that both sides are M16 x 1.5 - this look about right from what I can see from the filter itself. Can anyone confirm this? A lot of these online parts paces just parrot the same old defunct info as a.n.other site, round and round in circles...

Disco 1 v8 fuel filter thread check please!

Hi All, Could anyone please tell me the thread size & pitch of the wheel-arch fuel filter on a D1 V8? Part number is ESR4065M - (M for Mahle). KL158 is the Mahle part number. I need to buy some fuel line adapters to screw into this filter and provide me with a standard 8mm male shaft for the...

Many thanks Al203 - I like the sound of that threading technique.... I'll try it out soon. Thanks greyhair - I've not yet dived into the wiring diagram... it'll come, but I'm managing to avoid it at the moment! I had a very productive saturday this week (in terms of browny points), and managed...

Excellent news! Thanks! I had a sneaking suspicion that those screw in sedimenter types were only for low pressure systems.

clarification needed on 3.9v8 efi fuel filters

Hi All, I'm trying to make sure I've planned the fuel lines out correctly for my v8 defender build. As it's basically a disco 1 / RRC from a fueling PoV, I've been using the D1 parts manual. I've found the following item: ESR4065 - fuel filter The above seems to be a fairly standard in-line...
