Lucky for me it was just the hose-no damage to the head or gasket. All good and now back at home with the Disco. Cost a small fortune in travelling and storage, plus the French are hopeless in organising....

Seems to be a problem with that link... I can't find anywhere that recommends using 10/40 in a td5 engine, and as I've done a complete oil change with it I'm wondering if that has aggravated the problem with my Disco :(

Hi all, and a late HNY. Made a dumbo mistake by putting 10/40 oil in my Discovery 2 which now sits ( broken down, exploded top rad hose) On a garage forecourt 500 kms away. Is it likely, or possible that the change of oil from 5/30 to 10/40 could have catastrophic results?

It's quite an explosion. Obviously not just a question of the head gasket being blown, more the questions of how and where...:( Whatever. It's 500 klms from home; 15€ a day 'storage'; going nowhere before Jan 4th earliest and will likely cost more than it's worth to repair. Bah humbug!:)

Hi all. With what is becoming a regular occurence I had a breakedown on the way up to Belgium yesterday. Only just changed the filters and oil the day before, also checked all the hoses, tyres fluid levels etc. and made ready for the 1000kms trip up... Kaboooom! Totally Farcked over the Xmas...

Wher did you source your new prop from? There seems to be quite a variety on offer via fleabay..

I'm not sure until I scramble under it again. How can engaging a diff-lock and removing the prop confirm it's the front prop? I only get a rumble at 65+mph?

Thanks. I've just changed the donut on one of my tdi 300s but no difference - think it might be the front prop on that too. TBH I didn't realise, until I had a good look, that the D2 front prop was such a complicated arrangement.

Yes, you're right about the French electricity :). We have a decent supply here, and also have 3-phase, but I want to be able to use it in various locations so single phase is a must. Looking at an R-tech model.

Who uses a Plasma cutter on here? I'm just about to buy my first mig welder and I'm thinking of buying a plasma cutter at the same time. Anyone have any advice?
