Diesel fuel in engine oil, Td5

Thanks sierra and my apologies for hijacking this thread. Last week when I removed and re-seated my injectors I did exactly what @shifty recommended and had a good look and listen at the injector areas while I had the pump purging and pressurising the rail. I seen no bubbles but could hear air...

Diesel fuel in engine oil, Td5

Sierra. I am about to take my injectors out again as the fuel is still mixing with the oil. I have one question for you as I try to eliminate all possibilities before considering a cracked head and that question is, if the copper washers were not sealing properly and cylinder gasses were...

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

I made a visual inspection on all injector ports but couldn't see anything obvious. I also ran the pump while I had the cover off and the rocker shaft removed to watch for bubbling or spluttering and to try and listen for any gurgling sounds but I could only hear the air purging wherever it...

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

Okay....after doing the work last week and putting another 200 miles on it, I decided to check the oil level and it is on the rise again so, I feel now that I have to do an injector port crack test. Can anybody tell me what type of dye I need and how much....and do I just add it straight into...

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

Yes. I should have but time was against me as her indoors was looking to use the Disco this evening but I will check the diameters of the various seals I have left over when I get a hold of a micrometer....

I will have to check that with a micrometer if I can find one.....

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

Okay....a quick update. I pulled all 5 injectors today and found that number 3 injector almost fell out of it's port. I cleaned it and re-seated it and it fell back in with little or no resistance. Took it out again and removed the seal and replaced it with one that I had left over from my...

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

They are all genuine parts and I didn't notice any difference while fitting them. Like I said earlier, they did pop while seating. My problem was that a couple of them where very weak in popping and felt quite strangely loose in comparison to the others. I will remove the rocker cover in the...

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

Yes. I see what you mean....I'd imagine it will be very difficult finding O-rings of the correct spec/dimensions in the engineering market. Maybe some company that specialises in Hydraulics would be my best bet. I have some of the original (Brown) coloured O-rings in the shed that I removed when...

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

Checked my packs. Made in the UK.... This is a huge problem as I cannot keep dumping new engine oil and buying seals in the hope that it eventually comes right. Ridiculous situation

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

Thanks sierra....that would be very helpful. They are indeed very expensive. I bought eight of them as the sump oil was still rising after the first time that I replaced them so bought three more to do the job again and it still didn't work out for me. I will check the packaging now to see where...

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

Thanks Sierra, always a valuable input from your good self....Did this really happen, and what was the remedy. Do I have to take it up with Land Rover. Was there an official declaration that there was a bad batch of seals manufactured. That was around the same time as I purchased mine although...

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

I would imagine that the head is okay as there are no starting or running problems. I wasn't aware of a similar post this week. I will look it up....Cheers.

    TD5 injector seals not sealing

Hi all....I have recently replaced my injector seals and washers with new genuine parts after noticing that the oil level in the sump was rising slowly. When replacing the injectors with the new seals and washers fitted, I noticed that a couple of them were kind of loose fitting back into their...

    Classic Noisy LT95

Just to update. I don't know if you sorted this but I'm about to do the same myself and from what I have researched it's supposed to be 20/50 in the main gearbox and EP 80/90 in the transfer box so maybe the fact that you used 20/50 in the transfer box has caused the growl.... Hope this helps.

HELP!....LT95 gearbox stuck between Reverse and neutral

Right....So it's the worst possible scenario. I drained the oil to reveal what looked like a planetary gear on the bottom of the gearbox. I know there are no planetary gears in that area of the LT95 so it appears that parking downhill in reverse has caused either the retaining pin in the idler...

HELP!....LT95 gearbox stuck between Reverse and neutral

I have tried to position the lever in the idler groove but, it's almost impossible to guess where it is as it can't be seen from top of the box. You'd want to be seriously dextrous to achieve it while screwing in the side bolt. I will persevere and hope that I get it right to save me having to...

HELP!....LT95 gearbox stuck between Reverse and neutral

Thanks. That's worrying though. How is it able to slip out and how likely is it to happen again. Is it a design flaw or is it a combination of small things that would cause it to happen?......I don't fancy having to keep stripping the tunnel, carpets, facia etc out to do this over and over. Is...

HELP!....LT95 gearbox stuck between Reverse and neutral

Thanks James. I have checked to see if any jaws have loosened on the shafts, and they haven't. I have looked down into the box at reverse idler lever and I can just about see the bottom of the lever in the oil. It doesn't look like it's connected to anything though, I could be wrong as access is...
