Ok.....get this.........a motorist was stopped by Greater Manchester Police on the way to a prebooked MOT test.......his MOT had expired but like everyone else includeing me he knew it was legal to take his car to a prebooked MOT . He gets pulled for no MOT .......he then gets informed...

You need to be aware if it fails your current MOT becomes null and void

@windblower We had a late model KA in today...........and it has a Fiat engine in ........with a timing belt driven water pump ....... I stand corrected and owe you an apology sir

In that case the water pump is driven by the back of the alternator belt.............as a matter of interest dont be tempted to take a short cut and not slacken the camshaft pulley bolts...........if you do take the short cut the car will intermittantly stall and allow a day to do it as this is...

Ah.....been a while since I replaced a timing belt on a 1.25 engine......not sure if the water pump is driven by the timing belt........could let you know Monday evening though........my timing belt book is at work

We use Circolli water pumps all the time.......not had any issues yet......... If your KA is a 1.4 and the same engine fitted to late Fiestas the water pump isn't driven by the timing belt

I've never revved a diesel flat out during a MOT test.........why would you do that to a customers engine

Bore scoring on Porsche engines is a well known problem on past and present Porsche engines........its not been fixed
