P38A Locks, RF interface and EKA code

I agree with Keith, I had an issue with my old alternator 6 or 7 years ago. After I replaced it things were much better. With the old alternator if I turned the ignition on and left it on for 5 minutes or so I would get the old beep and “alternator fault” would appear on the message centre.

Mobile phones, electronic gates WiFi cameras etc all can send a “spurious” signal. Since I fitted Marty’s filter I can go for very long periods without even thinking about a flat battery. The Hankook battery also helps!

P38A EAS what am I missing?

Top one is gearbox ECU and the bottom is the EAS ECU. Try doing a continuity test from the sensor plug to the ECU multiplug. A long piece of wire and a multimeter.

P38A EAS what am I missing?

I had a fault with the one I had, when I swapped sides it was fine. I did however test it with a multimeter and it seemed ok in both positions

P38A EAS what am I missing?

I am assuming you have cleaned up and checked the plug terminals and the large connector on the EAS ECU? Sounds like it could be a connection issue

P38A EAS what am I missing?

Fully agree Keith, I thing everything is being made there, but as mentioned, it all depends on the garden shed it is coming from and the sledge hammer being used. The quality of the Chinese and the one "marked" Dunlop were worlds apart. The Chinese one gave a fault when I put it on the right...

P38A EAS what am I missing?

Definitely very different quality Kurt, very smooth to operate and the shaft is secure. The sensor itself is a much better build quality so if it comes from China it comes from a much better quality garden shed ;)

P38A EAS what am I missing?

As I mentioned I made sure the rod was squared to the shaft and poured metal epoxy in the gap, sound as a pound now. I am not sure if the looseness would cause an issue but I thought I would make sure. If you do it make sure to make a shield to fit between the sensor body and the link to stop...

P38A EAS what am I missing?

It will be one of the Chinese ones then, they are waiting for the Dunlop ones. The Chinese one I had was wobbly on the shaft. I poured epoxy metal to tighten it up, seems sound now. The Dunlop one from Paddocks is a lot smoother and the shaft is tight. I guess you pays yer money and takes your...

P38A EAS what am I missing?

One of the after market Chinese ones? I had to swap sides with my replacement one, the other replacement I managed to get a Dunlop one from Paddock’s, seem to be calibrating ok so far

Just cheap plastic ones I picked up somewhere, I just chuck them when they no longer work

They charge too much, I order the 500ml cans and use a pump aerosol

I would check their stock first, the one here in Poole sometimes runs out, hence getting my supply from Amazon :)

P38A EAS what am I missing?

Thanks mate, I checked the connectors and they seem not too bad to be fair, I was wondering if there were any connectors between the sensors and the ECU. I can’t see any on the wiring diagram

P38A EAS what am I missing?

Hi Kurt, I have been fighting an intermittent fault for a very long time, have replaced with new rear sensors (fault always seems to be from the rear) I have cleaned all connectors and removed the white one behind the kick panel. When I have tested continuity from the rear all seems ok. Is it a...

P38A Locks, RF interface and EKA code

Ive got 2 more of the metal lumps if you want them ;) It's a spacer for the lock assy, haven't had mine on for years, too much of a faf to put them back. I have a latch to go back to him in exchange for a refurb one I bought, he has told me to hang on to it until he returns. As for Marty's...
