    Oil Leak, The usual suspects?

suspects in that area include: the two cam seals behind the upper cam pulleys, or the cam cover itself. Mine currently has an oil weep from the exhaust cam seal :( Bit of a fiddly job to replace - you will have to remove the outer cam belt covers, cam belt, pulley/s and the back cover too. Long...

What have you done to your Freelander today

There's a new petrol station near me which offers "100Plus" petrol. I normally run 95 RON and have from time to time run 98 RON which I feel does offer and improvement in performance; I thinks it holds power on the hills better. I'd be keen to try the 100Plus. What's the advice out there, will I...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Put a new set of plugs in it today. I've been experiencing some rough running when it's cold. The old ones have done over 100,000 km so pretty good I guess. Gaps were a bit wide and the side electron had burnt away a wee bit on one side. first plug nearest distributor: second plug along from...

    Freelander 1 Bee-sting Aerial Replacement?

I too have poor radio reception on the FM channels here in NZ. I've replaced the antenna and the base but no improvement. The antenna and the head unit are both well grounded. My dash cam' power comes up via the LH A pillar from the accessory socket in the centre console so I don't think that's...

2003 1.8 petrol Freelander, Gearchange notchy

When I first began driving my K series FL1 the gear changes seemed to catch - not very smooth, but was good if you weren't in a hurry to change up. Changing the gearbox oil did make a noticeable improvement. Pretty easy to drain but a bit fiddly to refill.

Freelander 1 Gearbox oil leak Left hand driveshaft

As above - oil seal is fairly straight forward. Faulty wheel bearings can make a lot of noise.

Freelander 1 Air con knowledge wanted!

AC is excellent for de-misting your windscreen on those rainy winter days. If it were mine I'd be getting all back in tip top order.

    Freelander 1 Wiring experts please.

My DRLs don't work legally. That is, the don't turn off when the lights are turned on. I bought what I think is the correct relay and I've wired them up as per the diagram on the relay. Power supply to relay = yes, relay earthed nearby to bodywork, DRLs connected to the Red & black feed cables...

    Freelander 1 K 1.8 engine oil leak

I took off the coil, distributor cap & air cleaner to get a better view. There's no obvious 'wet' oil weep in that area. There is what appears to be old and dusty oil.

    Freelander 1 K 1.8 engine oil leak

Hello team, I developed an irritating oil leak from somewhere in the engine. It appears to be tracking down the bell housing to engine block joint and drops oil off the bottom of the bell housing. Photos showing an oily 'dampness' quite high up that joint above the engine serial number. The...

    Oil leak!!

A good clean up will kelp identify the path the oil is taking and possibly the source. You can buy squirt on or spray on degreasers that work well, use a pot scrubbing brush to loosen bit up. Then hose it off... Put old newspapers on the ground to catch what runs / drips off or some largish drop...
