That looks fab. The nuts will be the last thing to do on each side, glad I undid them before I took the wheels off. The inside of the hub housing that covers the abs ring was pretty rusty. I suffer with a lot of joint pain if I over do it, knees are knackered from years of biking in all weather's.

Finished the passenger side, waiting for parts for the drivers side. Not doing anything today as my knees are killing me. And yes I had a tin of red on the shelf calling to me :D

So started the strip down today in between the rain showers. Pictures show how far I got before realising I didn't have a 24mm spanner to undo the top ball joint bolt, one will be here tomorrow. The o/s is so seized up its difficult to move in either direction and undoing the bottom bolt moved...

Am going to give it all a good cleanup and regrease the wheel bearings at the same time. Don't think maintenance was a high priority for one of the former owners. Someone has even painted the calipers light blue for some reason.

Yep got the seal. Looks pretty rusty under there. Will have to give it a good cleanup and paint.

Went to collect the ball joint puller kit and there on the shelf was a 950mm 3/4 breaker bar, didn't have a 32mm socket so got an adaptor and hey presto the nuts came undone really easily.

Will sort out something as sturdy, as you say 1/2" looks like is going to snap off.

First stumbling block, the hub nuts are not budging. I folded the tabs out, applied plus gas. Tried my big dewalt impact wrench, tried a 2ft breaker bar to a point I was worried it would break, tried heat and giving it a wack whilst using the breaker bar no joy. Will see if I can get a longer...

I have ordered one of the full sets this morning and it should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. Think it's going to be a bit of pig to do given the amount of rust, will give it a good soak with penetrating oil for a couple of days before I start.

Replaced the lock mechanism today and straight away noticed that there is an arm missing off the lock where the arrow points in the picture. Had the lock out and its broken inside. One of the internal lever pivots has snapped and a thin piece of curved plastic on the end of the lever that's moved by the motor has also broken. Going to get a good used one to replace it.

Been in to the BECM today and disabled the EKA and immobiliser and disconnected the RF receiver. Because the drivers door lock is knackered the only way to lock the car is open the rear passenger door, push down the front passenger lock button and close the rear passenger door. Bit of a faff but...
