    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

I know you've said the cable ties are only temporary, but for the permanent solution, for that weight of cable, I'd suggest going with cable tie anchors that use a metal mechanical fastener to affix the anchor to the body rather than a plastic trimclip "firtree". Basically a small pilot hole...

Freelander 1 My 4th Freelander. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Ours was a van to begin with, but when I put the 3-door leather interior in it, I put the "door cards" and windows into it, although the hard top remains unglazed. Even glazed, I find the courtesy light to be utterly feeble, one little festoon bulb behind the drivers left shoulder, it's as dark...

Freelander 1 My 4th Freelander. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Nice little toy, it's rare to see automatic vans, and the 3 doors really suit the roof racks. It's also a nice bonus that it's a facelift, nicer looking dash, and room for a double din stereo. Those are 5 door seats, so don't have the tilt-forward mechanism to make it easier to access the back...

Freelander 1 TD4 IRD Smash, savage FW drive train leaks and mystery washer!

UPDATE: OK - I'm officially a mongtard, I've just bought it a full set of five of these:

Freelander 1 TD4 IRD Smash, savage FW drive train leaks and mystery washer!

I think yours started to eat unforeseen money, you no doubt did the man maths on vehicle price - cost to fix head etc < buying a running FL2, that didn't factor in tyres, brakes, diff, haldex and whatnot? If you'd jogged it on just after sorting the engine you'd have made a profit, but as it...

Perhaps you should go back to the building trade, as most "project cars" end up having similar outcomes from the value minus cost divided by time equation.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I've got one of them, it was an absolute life saver when I foolishly thought "Since I'm servicing both my car and the duchesses car, and they both use the same oil, I'll just buy a 20l drum of it" - without thinking of how the hell I was going to pour it into the engine - tip - touring from a...

    Freelander 1 Diff Mounting Kits

Where did it fail? I bought poly bushes for my front diff mount, only to find it was the ali frame that was broken not the bush that had failed. If the metal work is OK then a poly bush is the longer lasting solution, if the metal cracked like mine did you're buying another mount regardless.

I'm "only" 40, but my hands look like they are at least 80.

Liquid insulation, even if rated for lower voltages than your EV's system operates will be far more appropriate than stone chip for this project. Edit: the plasticote one is rated "Electrically insulates to over 1380volts/ml."

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

"Overkill is Underrated" That's looking good bud, picking up on what you said about exploring cable management options as your next moves, where the cables come up through the floor, via those significantly larger holes, you might need to go with blanking grommets, and cut an aperture to size...

    Gears slipping

Might be worth making sure who ever does the fluid level change sees this video on how to check the level... ...reason I dug this out is there's a bolt at the back that often gets mistaken for a filler plug, that when undone to fill it with fluid, causes the reverse clutch band to drop out...

    Gears slipping

Might be worth getting the fluid level checked, a low fluid level could lead to cavitation/foaming in the torque converter meaning the pump is getting starved of fluid, and or is pumping air-laden fluid, acting like brakes needing blead.

    Gears slipping

And there was me going to chime in with "If guns don't kill people, rappers do - gears don't slip, clutches do!" - now I'm going to have to read the rest of this thread and figure out some technically constructive to contribute with.

    That's not a bad result.

    electric cable

OH, that touches a nerve... My dad ran BMW's for his last 3 or 4 company cars before retiring, even he was skunnered to their way of "optioning" everything. He specced one up with business trim level and optioned leather seats. I didn't appreciate that lumbar support would be yet another option...

Freelander 1 TD4 IRD Smash, savage FW drive train leaks and mystery washer!

Those IRD internals look mint, this might genuinely, have had the prop for fuel, although saving fuel by having the prop off seem to be an urban myth. This could be the first one ever that a freelander with good transmission has been set to Front Wheel Drive mode? If you buy another IRD, open...
