What have you done to your Freelander today

What have I done to my freelander today? Nothing... But I'm contemplating donating it to the ukranian military...

Freelander 1 Fitting Aftermarket Seats - SRS etc

Given the OP is a Ukrainian soldier, I don't think seatbelt pre-tensioners are at the top of his list of hazards... ...Meschersmhmitt - get your Cobras, basically remove the stock seats from their original runners, leaving the pretensioners on the seat runners / bases . Then get some flat bar...

    New Motor

Congrats on the new toy, but I hope you hammered the dealer for at least a grand off the price for the stained and cracked number plate 🤣

    Disco 2 M6 Broken down...

Don't let your hubby take you on holiday to the middle east or North Africa, just sayin... Or in cafes in Tunisia Declare your mods when done, and at insurance renewal time, if they are on the policy or certificate, you're golden, as the insurance have actuarially accommodated the increased...

Disco 2 HEADLIGHTS FACELIFT TO PERIOD CORRECT STYLE

It sounds like (the genuinely talented) @sierrafery has got you covered on the electrical side of this retrofit removal / reinstatement / restoration, but that still leaves the butchered bodywork to contend with, which is something I might be able to help with... I'm going to suggest you take...

    1990 Range Rover Classic Springs..

Hi Rob, I'm going to take a bit of time and explain springs as I understand them, but I'd like to qualify my comments with the cavaet and disclosure that I'm not a university-educated automotive-engineer, just a reasonably intelligent and extremely enthusiastic amateur, so I am prepared to be...

    Merry Christmas Disco Drivers!!!

Just a quick one to say Merry Christmas before we all get too merry to find the keyboard and read the forum... Or if you're feeling as scrooge-like as I am, Bah Humbug to one and all...

Disco 2 Can I use 4" speakers in the upper door position?

I'm looking at refreshing my speakers, and I've got some really nice sounding 4" speakers that I would like to use in the upper door position, but AFIK the standard speaker size is 3". I don't want to butcher the door cards, so if I am going to install them, it'd have to be inside the door card...

    1990 Range Rover Classic Springs..

The LHD front left spring is a gnats cock over an inch longer than the RHD front springs, but maintains the same spring rate, so it appears they were allowing the car to settle one inch under the extra load on the left hand side because of the weight shifting across?

    Disco 2 air 2” lift

+2" airbags to compliment +2" coils on the front (TD5 only had rear air suspension)

    Disco 2 air 2” lift

I believe those are 50mm extended length air bags for 2" lifted vehicles, so wouldn't need the lift plate? However, I've not used them so can't comment on how good / bad they are, but you are 100% on having to hoodwink the ECU.

    1990 Range Rover Classic Springs..

I'd guess that the different springs for LHD cars are down to all the steering gubbins and pedal malarky being on the opposite side of the vehicle? A steering box, steering column, pedal box, replete with the lumpy Wabco ABS modulator and accumulator etc plus a notional 80kg+ for a driver...

    Wanted D2 bits

I've bought the STL file for those, but I dont have a 3d printer, yet. However, I'm going to buy a high-resolution resin printer, which offers a much better finish than the typical FDM hot melt plastic style of printer. Most 3d prints have a very pronounced surface texture: But the cupholders...

    Td5 turbo options

I'd say that as shiny and exquisitely made as it is, forget about that actuator, as you don't need it on a TD5. In days of yore, turbo boost pressure used to directly act on the actuator, and thus control the maximum boost as the actuator would open the wastegate when the preset level of boost...

Disco 2 Making up rear brake pipes

Short answer is an emphatic YES! But I'll give you an explanation as to why that is my answer... In my street racer days, we used to feel that braided hoses gave us a more positive feeling brake pedal when really braking to the limit of the tyres. The reason for this is that the OE style cotton...

Freelander 1 Storytime: how not to pass your MoT (twice)

When I looked at the back suspension of my 18 year old (then) freelander I decided to put a reciprocating saw through the bolts, and replace the arms, it was a total baw-bag of a job, so well done for doing it...

    Disco 2 TD5 Landmark 2004 - hi-line system - aftermarket stereo rubbish radio reception

I'm standing on the shoulders of giants here, but these are the exceptional Diagrams that @mystery made, where he's taken all three pages of the high-line stereo diagrams from the PDF and stitched them together in one diagram, doing away with things like this: And frankly the diagrams were a...

Disco 2 Making up rear brake pipes

+1 for that wee hand-held tool, I've got a Sykes Pickavant vise-mounted one, and I've also got one of these, and if anything, the wee yin makes ever so slightly better flares than the Sykes Pickavant one. I'd suggest going "full mongo" on the brakes, replace every pipe with cuni/cunifer pipe...
