    Good radiator?

OK - thanks all. Will look into recoring. I fear it may still be quite pricey but that beats breaking down in the bush.

    Good radiator?

Sorry - should have been clearer. It's a 300tdi. The end tanks are metal.

    Good radiator?

The radiator on my project truck is tired and flaky. A new one is needed. The truck's going out to Africa, so needs to be reliable - but the premium LR charge for their radiator is steep. What experiences have people had with non-Land Rover branded radiators? Are there any good ones, any to avoid?

Now sold - 7 seat Disco 300tdi for sale

My blue Disco is up for sale. 1994 7 seater. Selling as the steering box has gone and I've had enough of lying underneath it. Bodywork has been welded to a good standard (i.e. not MOT bodgery): - New rear crossmember - New boot floor in 2mm galvanised sheet steel - Arches repaired - Rock...

Anyone want a castor corrected axle casing?

A couple of weeks is fine - would be nice to see it go to a good home and liberate me some garage space while I'm at it. COC is fine. Just to be clear - the axle casing is prepped but not welded.

Anyone want a castor corrected axle casing?

Derby - I guess not exactly near Luton but not a million miles either, if you ever have occasion to come up the M1?

Anyone want a castor corrected axle casing?

Sigh. Abrupt change of direction - I got thoroughly and totally sick of the Disco's appetite for steering boxes and gave up on her. Accordingly, I'm not going to be needing either the welding jig or the axle casing I'd prepared ready to weld in it. It cost a fair amount to create but I'd sell it...

Riveting. What on earth am I missing?

I reduced the hole size to 4.5mm and then expanded it until the rivets just went in; they snapped with depressing consistency. What seems to have worked is modifying my lazy tongs riveter so that it reliably sets the rivets fully in one stroke. Good to be functional again (for now at least...)...

Riveting. What on earth am I missing?

Ah, break head rather than break stem - makes sense :) I'm confident that it's not the length at least - I'll report back once I've got the drill size down.

Riveting. What on earth am I missing?

Interesting. Hopefully it's that simple. I'll switch from 5mm to 4.5mm and give it a go. ..BH vs BS?

Riveting. What on earth am I missing?

Two Stanleys is enough for me - the original (rebuilt) one, and a brand new one bought this morning that did the same on its first rivet. At least that appears to rule out its being the riveter that's at fault. I'd conclude that I was the common thread in all this, but I managed literally...

Riveting. What on earth am I missing?

I've been riveting a body together. Four hundred or so rivets in, all was OK - insert pop rivet, squeeze riveter, repeat. Then my Stanley riveter exploded (I think something came unscrewed, so when the rivet mandrel snapped, it launched the riveter's internals everywhere). Since then...

    Frankentruck lives!

300tdi (at least, I hope it is - was running when it went in!)

    Frankentruck lives!

It's pretty much the definition of a mongrel - Isuzu cab, heavily chopped 101 FC chassis, Disco 300tdi running gear, Defender 110 rear sides and roof. Various members of my family have helped out at said hospital but I'm not medical. Their Land Rovers go out into the surrounding villages (up to...

    Frankentruck lives!

OK, it's a long way from finished, but I'm building a high mobility ambulance for a Madagascan hospital (he said, with fake nonchalance) and today I plonked the roof and sides on the body for the first time. It's all still very sketchy and needs a lot more structure, not to mention the...

    landrover number 3

I hope you're mistaken, because if he is for real then you're right, our response is a bit off-key. That said, the 4chan forum he references is for - how to put it? - anarchists, hackers, trolls and off-colour humour, and I couldn't find any obvious reference to him, or Landyzone, or his Land...

    Aluminium body cappings?

The lights are in the crossmember below it, so the space where the lights would normally go looked like an inviting place for some more rivets...
