By way of breaking the long silence, I've been making mods to the inlet manifold, as the air inlet and intercooler are going behind the cab. Space is tight around the manifolds, so rather than a big U-bend, I've swapped the inlet to the other end of the manifold and turned a new hose fitting...

Anyone know if the 19J inlet manifold will bolt up to a 300tdi head? I recognise that it would have to be on upside down, and the inlet air pipe would be in the wrong place - but would it line up with the holes in the head?

Hi, Anyone know the inner diameter of the 300tdi (Disco) header tank hose? Specifically, the larger 1" OD hose that runs around under the fan and connects to the radiator bottom hose? Thanks in advance!

Last call before I weigh it in - anyone want a jig for making castor corrected axle casings, plus a front axle casing that has been cut and prepped ready to weld? I need the garage space back, so it's got to go, either on here or to the scrap man.

It's the original - you hand in the old one and they de-solder it to take the end tanks off the centre core, solder in a new centre core, reassemble and repaint. If they've got a donor radiator in stock, then I think they use that - has the advantage that you're not without a radiator for any...

Here we go - before and after: Done at cost price by Applied Radiators in Stoke. They even delivered it to me. The soldering on the end tanks is top notch - really smooth and even. Very happy.

I've had enough of my 300tdi - maintenance pit, even after I'd welded the body from one end to the other. Have swapped it for a Shogun instead.

Good luck with the search. I don't have anything suitable (am getting rid of a battered Disco which is the only Landy I own) but wish you all the best. Might be a bit crazy as a suggestion, but if you're willing to shell out £500, you could buy one and then re-sell it and probably lose less...

No, it's a reasonable question. The main reason is that the receiving hospital have 300tdi Defenders and commonality of running gear was really important to them. But for that, I'd probably have used a Hilux! This one has a 300tdi/R380/LT230 drivetrain, Discovery steering box and rear axle...

Small update - finished making clutch and brake pipes. Haven't tightened them all up or bled them yet though.
