I'm plumbing my fuel system at the moment. I can preserve the normal route - tank to sedimenter to lift pump to filter to engine. The sedimenter's mounted on the bulkhead next to the fuel filter, so a neater solution would be to flow from tank to lift pump to sedimenter to fuel filter to engine...

I'm making a cab forward truck, which means the gearbox is well aft of the driver. The cab tilts, which complicates matters too.

Forgive me resurrecting a really old thread, but - I'm fitting some 110 hardtop panels and need new hardtop-to-body seals. Does anyone know the difference between the later Defender seals (expensive) and the earlier Defender / Series 3 seals (cheap)?

Bowler are a good shout - at least one of their team follows the project on Facebook. Is there any difference between front and rear springs on a Discovery or 90, other than the rate? Fitting some of these uprated Disco rear springs...

With hindsight, I should have located the spare wheel mounts just forward of the rear wheels...

The vehicle I'm building is looking quite nose heavy (i.e. the front springs are a couple of inches more compressed than the rears at the moment; I've still got about 250kg to add to the rear but there's more stuff to go on the front too). Anyone got experience of how weight distribution...

Best advice I can offer to anyone setting up to weld is to get an auto-darkening mask. About £50 but the difference it made to my welding was unbelievable.

As it happens, I've just bought a replacement manifold gasket as I need to change the inlet manifold, so I'm expecting to remove in any case. I'll see what studs I can source.

Much appreciated. Much oil and two nuts it is. The vehicle's not a runner at the mo, so it might be a propane torch rather than running the engine - but good to know that there's nothing magic about them and they should be replaceable like any other studs.

My manifold has really rusty downpipe studs. Is it a write-off, or are they replaceable - and if so, how? Thanks in advance!

I had one with brass end tanks reconditioned by Applied Radiators in Burton-on-Trent. They did a really good job. In the interests of full disclosure, it was for a charity build and they did it at cost - but regardless, the workmanship was excellent.
