    P38A A series of faults

So we were seeing just under 14V at the connector to the Driver Pack on the Exhaust Solenoid pin coming from the EAS ECU, but on the output from the Driver Pack there was no current draw (1 amp being what we saw on the Inlet and individual air spring solenoids when they fired using a decent...

    P38A A series of faults

No fault codes, suspension only goes up. If you tell it to go down nothing happens, unless you short the exhaust solenoid which then makes it open. My understanding is that the solenoids are energised on both sides at idle but not powered (so they can react quickly) and then the 'drop' signal...

    P38A A series of faults

And it is looking like it is the Driver Pack at fault. Exhaust Solenoid will not fire when instructed to do so by EAS Unlock, but ground the 'drop' side of the solenoid and it fires so in all probability there's no power being sent to the Exhaust Solenoid by the Driver Pack. Bugger.

    P38A A series of faults

After a bit of a bleed of the fuel filter outlet the engine running happily post Lifter Pump repalcement, and I've just replaced the injector leak of hoses as despite looking new they were all sweating But having fun...again...and now I roped in a mate with far more electrickery experience and...

Ok, probably plumbed to stop surge problems as the tank gets low then, as the pick-up 'pot' looks like it's designed to hold about the equivalent of a fuel filters worth of fuel so might act as a surge tank in that situation looking at tge shape and orientation to the tank.

The have the same Sender unit housing, but the actual pump itself is different between petrol and diesel I believe. In the diesel tge stock pump is only rated to 85 litres per hour and 0.2 bar pressure. It really is there just to make sure there's fuel at the engine mounted mechanical high...

    P38A A series of faults

This is a Bearmach so of similar ish standard, it will have to do for now as I need to get the P38 pressed into service moving all the Series projects, my T25 Camper, Motorbike, Lathe and 4 post Bradbury Ramp down here to Kent as my old house is sold and we are scheduled to complete on the 14th...

Island list them, but of course no longer offer counter collection, only mail order, and typically take 5 days to deliver from Maidstone to Tonbridge...I guess via the Outer-Hebrides o_O I may have found one in Chichester, which is a schlep in the wrong direction but needs must...

Going back to the pump, I still don't seem to be able to find a single retailer with stock, they all seem to need to get it from their wholesalers :(

For enough to treat 75 litres you're looking at about 9 quid: But you really only need it if you leave your vehicle for over a month unused

E10 is just a bit more hygroscopic so as Rubberknees says it will absorb more moisture than an E5 making long term storage a greater corrosion risk on top of reducing the octane. You can buy fuel 'drier additives to stop that from happening, or just run an E5 Super

Took the tank off to get to the pump so that's the plan

    P38A A series of faults

After the 4th run through the UT tank I could manually rotate the impellor in the pump, some of the plastic vanes seem to be a bit mobile, so I suspect fod to them. I left it going for a 5th turn in the UT tank just in case though, might attempt putting some ergs through it tomorrow

Soooo...distinctly unimpressed on Tonbridge here... Apparently when your website says you have something 'In Stock' this does not mean 'In actual stock for shipping' and that in reality 'we need 3 days to process your order' ie we have to order it from someone else...that has been the response...

If my hunch on the pump itself is correct it could be a Magnetti-Morreli unit that's about 30 quid

Getting my mits on a replacement pump today is looking decided unlikely. I think I need to clear the bench and put a tiny bit of effort into checking it more closely

    P38A A series of faults

Cutting the joining pipe wasn't really an option as someone repalced the brake lines at somepoint and just sort of ran them generally in the direction of front to rear, with a couple of cable ties loosely locating them, looped around the hose basically leaving no real room to reach up and cut...

That would make sense then, I did think the front was dropping when it cut out, and changed my mind when I looked at the disparity between the heights!

    P38A A series of faults

Ah, it didn't quite go like that While it was on the axle stands (a pair each end on the chassis and then another pair on each axle due to changing all the air springs) the rear end was more compressed than the front. When I was finally at the point to test the suspension, and did battle...
