    As already said that engine and transmission LOVES oil changes regardless of milage. I do mine yearly as i don't do many miles. When I was using it daily I changed all oils and filters twice yearly. It's a cheap way to keep it running

    We're off to Botswana mid may for 3 weeks. Hiring a Toyota Landcruiser with the full overloading set up.     If you want cheap just make your own - I had a home made one similar to above but a considerably poorer effort for years. Recently paid out for a front runner one, which is expensive but looks great, works great and has some nice features.

    Just doing a 100amp alternator upgrade on my 200tdi defender. I’ve upgraded the cable from alternator to starter motor with an appropriate one. is there anything else that needs upgrading wiring wise?

    Got a non functioning fuel gauge. Is that an MOT failure? MOT is on Monday so deciding weather I spend tomorrow fixing it or just go to the pub.

    If the turbo is new I would start with the head. I'd expect fairly obvious blue smoke if it's burning that much oil. You sure its not a leak somewhere?
