So front mount and support welded to the new sills. Seam sealant and primer applied. First coat of paint on, now have to wait for that to go off before finishing the painting. Lessons learnt: 1) Welding is hard, but when it works it is (a) obvious and (b) quite tidy :) 2) Welding off the...

Yes, tack welded the overlapping inner sill and started to weld up the old body mount and additional support. The weather conspired against me today :mad:, so I'll finish off on Monday all being well. :bounce:

Get yourself a welding jacket off ebay. Was welding stuff today myself and the jacket saved me from the pain! :D

Welded the inner mount today and will tidy up Monday. Looking forward to assembling the interior and then getting the Landy back on the road. Oh, and then I need to do the other side :)

Definitely worth learning to do. As a rookie I find it pretty tricky to get a nice finish. Strong enough, but not always very pretty. Upside down welding is really hard :mad: Check out mig-welding.co.uk, lots of useful videos and tips. B&Q are doing a small angle grinder for £15 by the way -...

I have a "spare" ECU you could try. I've already done the dry joint fix so for the cost of P&P it may give you an alternative route... PM me if you want to try this (having done all of the other checks :D )

My v8 had a similar issue. I did track it down to a loose connection in the multiplug that links the door to the body (there's three if memory serves, not sure which one is the window one). Found by accident as was only very intermittant.

Tis my intent, though some of the thinner metal is gorn :( so I'll have to be a bit more careful with the new welds :o I also need to lower my standards regarding what looks pretty...I have done with everything else :D (Mmmm that's me struck off Mrs Sniff's cake list) :behindsofa:

So the message so far seems to be get the basics right - good primer onto clean metal, followed by summat... Don't fancy the old oil stuff to be honest. I spend too long under the vehicle and jet washing it after laning trips ... As a first step I'll paint primer, then Hammerite or vehicle...

Welded the bottom of the A and B posts. Ground it down and it looks pretty average to be honest. This welding lark is bleedin hard :mad: Feels like I need another 5 years of practice! Not looking forward to the welding-under-the-car bits... That's Friday's job I suspect.
