The biggest bit they don’t make anymore is the chassis. Make sure it’s serviceable. It’ll be a constant job keeping everything going on anything this old. Even aluminium.

Isn’t there only one on a 3. I think the go to is copper. Just a single 90 degree bend from memory but you will need a P clip to fasten it to the centre rocker cover nut.

If it was me, and I’ve never done it, I’d cut three narrow wedges. Pop the ring on top of the splines and open it up by tapping the wedges into the splines. Once on the splines it should tap down.

Always been an issue in my head of pimping up a series with engines and chit when the bleedin things were never very safe at original speeds. Must be me getting old and miserable.

I have the plate snd hinge off an original that I fancied butchering onto the back somehow but I’ve never got round to it. I was going to drill a bar for the tow ball bolts like a modern one. Another job for another day.
