    Servo or Vacuum pump or naff vac hose...as the pedal should sink an inch or so almost instantly once the engine and vac pump start. Are the VM Vacs run off the cam? it may pay to check the vac pump cam follower and cam if this is the case.

    I took my fuel rail pressure regulator out with the HP pump insitu - this was on a 530d, same engine. I can't 100% remember the process, but it was intake manifold off at the very least from what I recall - I will have to see if I have any pictures of it while I working on it at home tonioght!
