Turbo would likely throw oil in and that would be blue/ black ??

Freelander 1 TD4 Black smoke puff and P1e30 SOLVED AGAIN !!

So tested vacuum pump against a working vehicle. Both identical in response. For reference the pump pulls 24 -25 in hg Vacuum. 2 stabs on brake pedal reduce it to 15 in hg. Recovery to 24 -25 in hg takes about 15 seconds. So, not that. Before turning attention to the brake servo, which held...

    Freelander 1 Grey Smoke

Grey is over fuelling and is the unburnt diesel being passed through. As far as I understand.

    Freelander 1 Grey Smoke

I usually just lift air cleaner lid off and let the joining plastic come up in the air and uncouple. Perhaps shoddy !! Only on my cars. If doing a full service it all comes off anyway.

Freelander 1 TD4 Black smoke puff and P1e30 SOLVED AGAIN !!

Good questions ! Will get back on those. I have checked that the servo holds vacuum if left for a few hours, so unlikely to be diaphragm. Not much in pump to fail though, either works or doesn't I would have thought. Anyone had a 'weak' pump ?? Thanks

Freelander 1 TD4 Black smoke puff and P1e30 SOLVED AGAIN !!

Revisiting this again! Have MOTd the 2002 TD4 ES for the winter to allow me to do some jobs on the Sport. Headlining etc. Brakes work fine but running out of servo assistance after 2nd press. Vacuum gauge test shows no leaks and a good 24 inhg on idle. Press brake and vacuum gauge shows 5 or...

3 door front doors are much longer. In my experience they are a pain to get out of in car parks !! I have some new 5 door doors or can source 2nd hand ones. What do you need ??

    Freelander 1 Grey Smoke

What I can't help with is what happened to the HP pump pressure. You would think it would drop when spraying out the front, but whether it would be measurable. Have you done HP figures at say 2000 and 3000 rpm and compared with a working TD4 ??

What have you done to your Freelander today

I have fed back to the suppliers many times about the pad holes being in the wrong place. I use a tank cutter to correctly position them. They overlap with the factory holes but it sits right then. I think the pattern used for folding and drilling is wrong !!

What have you done to your Freelander today

Repair kit is available to hold the joints together. They work well and are more than a temporary fix... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142649657918?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_ejaT64KQiK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=b5qQSb6hQNK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Freelander 1 Fuel Burning Heater - still on with temperature normal SOLVED

Thanks, I'm going to try the in line ally job for a Honda K Series. Stat is replaceable and hence you can change the temp if needed. Also, on an Automatic vehicle it looks like it will fit in place of the top hose joiner and require no hose removal or cutting so re-instatement is simple.

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

Hose ID is 32mm. Stat is 42mm. So am going to try one of these. Stat can be changed when fitted and fits in line.

Freelander 1 Fuel Burning Heater - still on with temperature normal SOLVED

Failed !! New stat. Short hose off. Plastic pipe corre t diameter to push in. Silicone up. Spent 2 hours and couldn't get the thing in far enough. It needs to be 25 to 30mm clear to allow the T fitting back in. No way was it going. Managed about 10mm but nearly gave myself a hernia!!! What...
