My wiper motor expired on Friday just as I was taking the car for MOT. When I stripped it down to replace the motor and mechanism I noticed the foam that covers the air inlets was perforated and probably a contributing factor to the motors demise. So, where do you get replacement foam from?

Typical, it's pouring down today. Turned on the wipers, they make a funny noise and return to park and that's it. Joy.

Thanks for the reply! Stainless type air filter? The plugs are only 5K old, I thought they would last longer than that but I'll pull em out tomorrow to have a look. It's a single point system, not sure of the make but I'll check tomorrow. The ECU is just the standard LR GEMS thing.

When I first bought it (last year), the P38 used to pop back a lot so based on advice on here, I bought new leads and platinum plugs and all has been well for the past 5K miles. Not one backfire at all in a variety of driving conditions. I even bought a new genuine air box & filter at the same...

Check, double check everything including the coolant. Take it for another test drive and spank it then check the coolant (allowing for a slight cooling period!)... Do a search on P38 overheating, low mileage is no guarantee it doesn't have issues.
