does that give the year of manufacture or the year of registration? with MOD vehicles this could be well over a 10 year difference if the vehicle wasn't issued with age related plates at time of registration.

The data plate will tell you if it's a so called 2a or series 3, I say so called as that is what it is refered to as by the majority, the data plate will have Rover 1 or series 3 written across the top, it will have the military reg number on it which is 2 numbers 2 letters 2 numbers, from this...
Yes, The bulkhead & vent panel, these are very expensive to replace on a lightweight, other than that it's just your normal LR things like chassis, outriggers etc, check drive in 2 & 4 wd & hi & low.

The data plate should either be on the seat box or bulkhead just right of the steering column, yours may have been registered on the year of release & not on its age, if it is S2 then you can get age related plates & free tax.
