    Sorry. Should have made myself a little clearer. the alarm was set (as usual by clicking the key bob) and when the horn went off, it was just the horn, I suppose, as there were no lights flashing. To stop it I unlocked the car using the fob and the horn only stopped sounding when I got the key...

So I disconnected the battery, just closed the door without setting the alarm, went back...
