I have a defender 90 with a 2.25 petrol in it at the moment.I want to change the engine to give me a bit more power and better mpg (currently 14mpg).What petrol engine could i put in to utilize the existing gearbox (i think a LT77 ).cheers !!!!!!!!!!!!!

A v8 sounds good but i am told a fair bit of cutting and welding is involved.The original diesel engine was stolen and the last owner put the petrol engine in.
