After reading several posts on here, I took out the brake light switch (it twists out easily) I sprayed copious amounts of electrical contact cleaning fluid into it whilst operating the switch...problem solved. I had the same problem with the HDC switch...

I had the same fault on my 04 FL sport and it was under warranty. I spoke to the mechanic briefly and he said fuse was o.k. they replaced the mirror switch to fix it. be careful to get correct switch...mine has the folding mirrors so switch had to match.
