Hi! Looking like i am going to have to replace my LT230 transfer box. Has anyone changed one? If so can you give me any pointers on what is involved? Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Well removed the rear prop now and engaged diff lock and driven with just the new front prop in and the noise is there again. Starting to point at the transfer box?

Yep oil is correct and recently changed and the level is good to. As you say i wont get the noise with diff lock engaged anyway. I have notice recently that it is difficult to disengage diff lock to.

Interesting one! I have just driven the car with diff lock engaged with both props still in and there is no noise! Any ideas? At least this explains why the noise disappeared when i removed the front prop as diff lock was engaged.

You and me both. It did dissappear however i had no noise for the first week off running the lift then it appeared and removing the prop made the noise disappear. Now i am wondering if the rear has worn. The front prop is new. The noise is as loud but seems to have moved. I will crawl...

Just a quick question! Will renewing the uj's fix the problem for the rear or does it need a wide yoke prop?

Well changed the front prop today! Still got the noise:confused: looks like it could be the rear prop also!

Well i have acquired a disco 2 front prop and output flange for the transfer box. Can anyone tell me what size the nut is on the output flange?

Well thanks for all the advise! I dropped the front prop off today at that does seem to be the problem! Will let you know more when i have fitted the new one! Thanks

Any advantage to using a double cardon prop as apposed to wide yoke prop?

Hi tre hope you are right but knowing my luck it will be both! I will try removing the front prop tomorrow. Where do i get a wide yoke prop from? Any idea on cost?

Hi! I wouls have thought that fitting the castor correction bushes would have helped. How come it would make it worse?
