Quick update from me! Car seemed better( less smoke ) When warmed up with that fluid I put in the oil to try and rejuvenate the valve stem seals but early days yet! But will keep you guys posted!!

Today I've put some additive stuff into my oil that rejuvenates oil seals. So I'll see how that goes and keep you posted, any other possibilities are still appreciated!!

Just an update!! Fixed and it was the bearing ! Also needed a stub axle it had gone that bad!! So many thanks to everyone for the help!!!!

Right laugh! Cos my defender is an 86 reg but the axles have been changed to ones with discs on the rear I've no idea which wheel bearing to buy ! Lol My thinking is I'm going to have to strip it down and try and get the part number off the old bearing and order a replace my that way!

Was hoping its a wheel bearing, in previous experience I've only had cars not land rovers and the cars tended to hum rather than grind? I'm a bit new to defenders but can't help but love them!! Anyone know if it's a massive job? Thanks again for the help grimmer!
