Vcu's do wear out, its not scare tactics you have to stay ontop of them. We will checknyou vcu free of charge if you come to us or sens the vcu to us. If you need one a recon unit is £200, or if you want it fitted at the samw rime tou come to have it checkes its £300 all in including new support bearings.
The things that kill vcu (and the freelander transmission) is the tyres being mismatched, keep you tyres matched and a good vcu and you will have nontranmission issues
