i didn't sillicone it. What I did was pop the seal out round the bottom corners and then carefully put them back. I also cleaned all round the tailgate where the seal connects with it to ensure there's a good seal. It seemed to cure it pretty much. Still gets a little damp on the boot locker when it really chucks it down but generally much much better.
