I wouldn't worry about the colour of the connectors if they fit together correctly, may just down to year of production.
I believe that the MG TF fits and is cheaper than the JLR parts, others will confirm. Never had to replace my door lock assemblies as I repaired them.
Right I have had a breakthrough, took my door card off unplugged the connector sprayed contact cleaner, left it to dry
Plugged it back in.

Entered the EKA code the car opened and started first time, and now my key has resynchronized.

So I have ordered the mg door latch and will fit that in time.

Thank you everyone👍 il be back same time next week

There are 2 ways.

Key in ignition pos 2 then press the unlock button

Or

Key in door lock door shut turn to lock press the lock button, turn to unlock press the unlock button. (maybe unlock first then lock can never remmeber)

J

Key in lock only works if all 3 micro switches are working. Also, the RF receiver needs to be plugged in and working.

'99 should be able to sync from the ignition if the little pickup coil is still in place.

Well once I managed to get the EKA code to enter , it synced the key as soon as I put the key in the ignition and turned to position 2 then removed the key .

I looked that up and yes it does seem to be the same part , however for future reference for anyone else doing this,

MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE MG TF LOCK THAT SUPPORTS CENTRAL LOCKING!!!!!!

If buying second hand, the clue is 6 wires in the main connector, plus the separate ground wire(s). If the latch only has 4 wires, then it probably doesn't have all three microswitches.

eBay sellers must be getting wise because MG latches are going up in price.

This one is probably a good one to try, but could also have the same motor & microswitch issues !! You never know with used parts.

If cleaning the connector fixed it why buy a new lock?

Maybe there's something different with the motors inside ? If does appear to have the Outside & Internal handle linkages, plus the keyswitch rod.

At the end of the day, you can always use the microswitch block in a P38 latch.
