Advice please….
Having found a peach of a 2001 D2 I’d like to keep it, I’m of a mind to buy once and cry once in getting it protected so what’s going to work best, is there anything on the market that actually works?
Cheers

Yes but it’s 24yr old technology, so not really fit for purpose nowadays buddy, this vehicle has 60,000 miles on it, been kept in a heated garage , has been regularly wax oiled and has over 30 service invoices totalling £12,000, there is absolutely zero rust anywhere on it, I want to keep it .

With “it’s 24yr old technology” its pretty safe at the vehicle has to be opened and various bits of wiring has to be reconfigured while the alarm is sounding.
You can go back 50years and stick a locking steel bar on the steering, which owners of modern vehicles with keyless access do now and which have more advanced technology to protect them.

D1 & 2 don’t have the additional technology for protecting like modern cars.

Which is safer than any of the newer CAN-bus technilogy these days which are easyer to be acessed by ”specialists” with proper scanners who dont even know how these old security systems were conceived. There is almost zero possibility for an immobilised(locked with active alarm) D2 on factory alarm setting to be started without using it's own programmed keyfob or without knowing it's EKA code... which you'll realise yourself once you'll be unlucky enough to not be able to unlock it with it's fob(s) for some reason.

Sierrafery is on the money, as long as your immobiliser works, it ain’t getting stolen without a stupid amount of research, work and testing. You can’t even talk to the BCU with the immobiliser enabled, it may be old but it works as it should and honestly the disco ain’t worth a lot on paper nor are thieves really interested. Not like you can nick a wing mirror and sell it for 500 quid or even rob your lights to grow green. There are more lucrative cars elsewhere.

That does look nice though, where abouts do you live? … Only Joking lol
