Hello everyone .

I own a 1987 110 , this is a ex mod and came with a bikini top , it had 2 rear facing seats .

I installed a truck cab onto this “not sure what it came of “ the other day when pushing a coat behind my head rest, my drivers side curved glass exploded “measured with calipers 4mm”

So I went to maltings 4x4 , I ordered a pattern part and it seems such a loose fit that it will fall out ?

Was there a variation of rubber strips ?

Can anyone provide any ideas / information on this please ?

Many thanks in advance

Here are more photos of the truck cab & passenger side glass “assume original “

There is no evidence of foul play and any damage to the metal work itself .

I assume since it’s 4mm glass it must be a defender roof ? As series used 5mm glass

If there is a glass thickness difference I imagine there is a rubber difference. Looks like there should be an insert to go in the seal.
Regardless it does look smaller than it should be.

For how small the glass was I didn’t insert the middle seal . No way could it stretch the main seal that much

Does the new seal look the same as the otherside?

Take a photo looking from the front of the truck cab, they are a different shapes for series/defender
I sent the glass and seal kit back to the shop .
I didn’t think to check this originally sadly …

The truck cab itself was hard to fit onto the tub though , it never lined up truly perfect .

I believe my 87 reg truck is just after the chassis change over point so it’s more 110 than series “3” which would mean if it’s a series truck cab it wouldn’t fit perfectly ? Obviously with it being a 87 reg it’s pre defender .

The drivers side image shows it never lined up well.

Windowscreen & doors came with truck originally .

I have kept the original seal , it measures 5mm for the glass ? But it had 4mm glass inside ? Is this why it exploded ? Not sure if the seal is designed to have a 1mm gap for the pinch seal to compress
Thanks for your reply

the thickness of the glass, thickness of panel and overall diameter will affect the fitment try Direct Seals they do a good range of clayton seal

Definitely a defender type truck cab.

I know when I took the glass out it was a snug fit & re used the rubbers
