What have you done to your Freelander today

I've never changed an exhaust in any Freelander and they were all as old as yours. They must have been well made.
I put the flash little one from Muddy Mods or something like that on mine.
Very nice it is too although cost more as I remember but that was years ago. When I used to spend money on it.

yes I'm aware that actually towing something with this on a public road is probably illegal as it's not type approved

Only if it breaks and causes an accident where someone is seriously injured or killed. Many years ago I remember having tow bars fitted at some guys house. He had a cottage industry making and fitting tow bars at the weekend and I can't imagine type approval was an option.

When I retrieved the transmission bits off my K Series parts car, I removed the exhaust.

Its no good to me so sat in the garage for years.

Eventually had a clear out and listed it on the Kiwi version of eBay. Not the slightest of interest. Relisted it a few times and nothing.

The 1 time you want Land Rover parts to be unreliable, and they go on for bloody ever!

I have a similar unit on my tractor and have carefully pulled, no snatch, in excess of 3 tonnes. I wouldn’t do that regularly or trust it’s fatigue life but for usual use, I reckon it’s fine on a hippo.

Took my "new" Freelander 1 to a trusted mechanic. Looking to hear from him tomorrow. I have little experience with 4x4 or land rovers so I'm asking him to diagnose my rattle/shudder. I wasn't able to narrow it down at home, but I'm leaning towards CV joint, most likely on engine end. The boots looked fine. I'm just sending silent prayers that it isn't a diff or transmission issue.

Ordered 6 litres of Mannol 5W-40 ceramic life extension oil and filters. Interested to see if the engine "feels" or sounds different (TD4, 325,000 km). Used BMW longlife last time and I got 875km on a tankful and no low fuel light!
