What did you do with your Range Rover today

SRS and air bag warning now gone. Uncoupled connector under drivers seat , sprayed with electric spray . For now all gone :D
I got rid of the side airbags as they were well past their use by date and soldered a resistor across the wires in place of the connector so that problem will never recur. :)
 
Otto did us proud, stable and comfortable wafting for 350 miles over 3 days, including central town traffic for a bit, doing 47mph and 21.3mpg average.
Then the 1.5 miles home from the petrol station averaged 12.9mpg...
Taillight bulb had blown, rear wiper is poor as barely seems to make glass contact and just feels a bit wobbly on the spindle or mounts.
 
I did drive her 😁 Not far and never above 40mph but drive her I did. I went out of the house, filled with trepidation, as she has sat for a week. Threw the Defib, etc, in back as I'm on standby, and in that moment my heart dropped - I'd left the dashcam plugged in 😔
I put the key in with the last of Pandora's box items struggling to get out. I turned the key and a little stutter and vrooooommmm she started 🥳🥳🥳

Jag has failed its MoT and requires a shed load of welding which I haven't got the skill or time for so I have laid her up. It seems criminal to scrap her (she probably has the only galvanized subframe in the country) but enough is enough. Ideally I would pass her to an enthusiast but failing that it is the scrappy. :-(

I don't know what model Jag you have but surely an add in an enthusiasts mag would result in a sale?

Dam been out this evening and SRS come on after driving but goes off when stops and restarts then comes back on after about a mile or so. Will try that connector under dash drivers side

S-type. The 4 litre v8 with the last real Jag engine.

I also have a v12 engine out the back from an XJS that has never been run. My back yard is starting to become a bit cluttered!

OK, I made up resistor packs to replace side airbags using 8 off 12 Ohm 0.5 watt 1% resistors in parallel. which = 1.5 ohms as that was what I had in stock. You can buy special resistor packs for the job on the web but be careful, many are 1.2 ohms and do not work on the P38 side airbag, Ordinary 1.5 Ohm 2 watt resistors seemed to be hard to come by when I did the job.

You need to buy 8 12 ohm 0.5watt 1% resistors for each side, connect these in parallel with 2short wires attached to the ends and carefully insulate. As an optionyou can use a single 2 watt 1.5 ohm resistor, but these are hard tocome by. Disconnect the battery, wait 10 minutes and then unplug theside air bag, cut off the connector that goes to the ECU solder theresistor pack to the wire ends or use crimp connectors, Insulate thejoints if soldered, preferably with heatshrink tubing. Reconnect thebattery and clear any SRS faults with diagnostics. If theairbag has fired, you will need a new SRS ECU.
