My 300tdi has developed a ticking/blowing noise a few weeks ago and it’s driving me insane now, think it’s gotten a bit louder than it was. It only makes the noise when accelerating under load or when stationary and balancing the clutch. The noise seems to get worse when the engine warms up and normally I don’t hear it at all for the first minute or two of driving. It sounds like it’s right in front of me (rhd) and I tried listening while balancing the clutch but couldn’t figure out what it was. It seems to be throttle related, doesn’t get worse with rpm. I’ll link a video of the noise.

Not 100% sure what you mean by 'balancing the clutch'.

Looking at the other points. When the engine is 'under load' (ie when accellerating) indicates that it could be pressure related.
This could be a loose injector or heater plug on the offside of the engine or it could be a loose exhaust manifold bolt or the exhaust studs where the exhaust pipes turn down towards the bottom of the engine.

Any of the points above can be heard/detected whilst the car is stationary.
 
Sounds like a lose injector/blown seal. The seal doesn't seal so you get sharp release of air pressure which sounds like a ticking.
The injector may not feel lose when trying to wriggle it.
 
Both my 300tdi’s developed a chuff noise and it was the head gasket at the back of the head against the bulkhead. Can sometimes feel it blow if you hold your hand in the right place
 
So my experience only
If it is exhaust gasket / exhaust manifold warping - you will see the streaks of black soot around the manifold very easily

Maybe a good clean with electrical spray first to clean everything is a good idea

then the block is black so a wipe of the finger should show it up
In my case cyl 4 and 3 and to a small amount cyl 2
That is based on the soot and what the exaust manifold gasket looked like when I last peeled it off - about a year ago or so
