    200/300TDI exhaust brake?

Just to set minds at ease i am not going to pioneer this. If someone with these engines had success, I thought it would be a novel way to help my 109" since the brakes are ever a challenge. I am not risking my motor thought. If you think a 200tdi is hard to get in the U.K. is is crazy over...

    200/300TDI exhaust brake?

So, no. No one has put an exhaust brake on one of these lol

    200/300TDI exhaust brake?

This little trailer doesn't have brakes. Upgrading the trailer is (a lot)more expensive lol

    200/300TDI exhaust brake?

@miktdish An exhaust brake is a valve that closes in the exhaust to create back pressure to make engine braking more effective. I use downshifting now to take pressure off the drum brakes, but (idealy) an exhaust brake would make that much more effective, but there can be downsides in some...

    200/300TDI exhaust brake?

Has anyone installed an exhaust brake, or considered it, and has a good reason it's a dumb idea? I yank a utility trailer full of fire wood around a bit and the drums get "warm". i use what engine braking is already available top pretty good effect, but i figure with an exhaust brake i would...

3.54 diffs and an Ashcroft transfer box - silly idea?

I am comfortable swapping out the front hogshead I have, but not setting up the rear, and the quote on that around here has been. . . high. Not sure how i want to proceed.

Thank you for a place to look. I have been driving myself nuts

    Headlights

Ok, anything I can do about that short of replacing the stalk?

    Headlights

My headlights stopped working. I had just put the column shrouding so my initial though was something got knocked loose in there, and while that still may be true I sure as heck can't find it. I have 12v to the switch I have switched 12v out of the switch - that 12v goes to at least 3...

    Just one of those days

I spent a lot of time and got virtually nothing out of it. - Installed and new EGT gauge. . . . the gauge does not work. It has power and ground, but does nothing - Put my column cowling on and cleaned it all up. . . . now my headlights won't come on. Still turn on the dash lights, and the...

3.54 diffs and an Ashcroft transfer box - silly idea?

@300bhp/ton my inclination is to keep leafs and eventually upgrade to parabolic springs and the appropriate shocks. I keep an open mind in case something just comes along that is clearly better. For parts, I just want to make sure I get what I need to convert the front differential to 3.54:1...

3.54 diffs and an Ashcroft transfer box - silly idea?

@300bhp/ton seems I was right to quote you above. Would you mind weighing in on the proper parts, particularly for the front. IIn my case i am jsut making a leafsping defender with a cooler front end. Would it be easier/cheaper to just swap the entire axle and get rid of the unused locking hubs?

3.54 diffs and an Ashcroft transfer box - silly idea?

Here is a post i found about this very thing: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/which-diff-to-upgrade-to.390595/post-5656209 I must have had this idea 10 years ago when I got the 109 because I found a box in my garage from East Coast Gear Supply with a: Dana 60 Slasbury 3.54 ring, pinion...

3.54 diffs and an Ashcroft transfer box - silly idea?

I am thinking similarly since my 109 is 200tdi powered. The 4.7:1 axles are a bit overkill.
