There's no science here, just sticking two things together. Use a good bead but not enough that it enters the sump, torque the fixings up appropriately and that's it.
That's how I did it on my rebuild and it runs great. Flywheel has a locating dowel so providing your crank is aligned properly the flywheel peg will fit.
I guess using the flywheel pin would be slightly more accurate than the mark, but the teeth...
Devil's advocate, fitted one a few years ago while doing a rebuild on budget. Just had the engine out and release bearing is still absolutely fine.
Obviously that one is no good, but doesnt mean they all are.
Full exhaust system for LWB Series 3, I purchased this second hand a few years ago so it's getting on but still in good condition.
Was told it's stainless, clearly the backbox is, the pipes could well be but of a lesser grade.
Comes as per the...
Some bits left over from stripping a 200 tdo to go into my Series. Photos to come, collection from Lyneham near Swindon.
Radiator/intercooler, untested but no visible damage other than to the rad outlet stub. £30
Radiator fan cooling, £10...
Many thanks both. I have just ordered an IR temp reader from off ebay as I am starting to think its actually fine on temp, but it is the sensor/wiring/new thermostat. Going to remove the termostat tonight and run it without it. I read last night...
I'd be more inclined to say gauge/sensor/wiring than anything else.
Top hose will get hot even before the thermostat is open, so the bottom may be cold simply because there is no flow. It may also be that it's only just hot enough to open the...
This is mine, guys at work swapped a cat engine for another used one, this hose was spare so I may have purloined it and this is where it has lived for the last 18 years.
This is a 200 with the early narrow style radiator, I cannot comment on the...
Can anyone share some photos of their bottom hose when using a serid radiator with 200tdi please?
One of the last jobs but I cannot get a hose to fit properly.
All suggestions welcome.
Pig is leaving today. Going to a chap who I instantly liked and who is going to be doing a restoration on. Sad day but I also got a new lovely daily and a new gun yesterday so the pain is minimal 😂.
It makes me really happy that the guy loved it...
However I would suggest looking at a previous thread I made on the topic with the bearing part number. I tried some from Turners which were extremely hard to work with and ended up replacing them again..
Okay so I think I've sorted this - clearly not looking properly at 11pm last night when I was trying to fit it.
If you look at the sixth photo, you can just about see the stud from the mount sticking down, this was resting on the chassis leg...
Morning all,
Finally got the the stage of fitting the rebuilt Discovery 200 tdi to my 109 Series 3, however it doesn't seem to want to sit properly and hoping for some guidance.
2.25d mount brackets removed and fitted to disco block, new...
I had to get a pipe made up for the clutch master on my 73 S3, can't remember exactly why but different side unions vs the pipe I had.
Took it to a local hydraulics place and they make me up a new pipe the same day for a few quid.
