Well it would be rude of me not to celebrate this painting milestone

Well thats it folks !!!! Painting finished, well Im all for not wasting and certainly hope that I dont find anything that I haven’t painted as Ive only got a jam pot of paint left over from 5lts just enough for the odd stone chip touch up 😂

Doors, tailgate, sills, windscreen frame and inside of the wings are all painted and shining 😀

Day 2 of painting and been troubled by orange peel 😖 right then back to the original recipe 2:1 and no thinners….

Well todays the day that I’ve been waiting 6mths for …. Its painting time …. Few minor adjustments with the mixing ratio and Ive got the hang of this Selamix 5-1-20%

Spray booth started to take shape, slight upgrade from the mk1 with a forced inward air fan with filter duct. Hopefully this should provide a positive air pressure to avoid any chances of dust ingress. Collected 5lts of PPG selemix today so hoping to get the booth finished in the morning and get...

New rear tailgate etched ready for primer along with some new heavy duty steel front wings. Have to admit they are so much stronger that ali ones, not that much heavier and shouldn’t cause any galvonic affect or corrosion to the bulkhead.

Doors, sills, floor plates and headlamp bezels all etch primed ready for grey primer

Whats the score on the “doors” George doors …. Well its only a new set of series style galv doors from sp4x4 ! Glass removed a little tidying up of the welds with the flap disc, a quick once over with 80 grit on the DA and they are ready for acid etch and primer. That’s tomorrows job sorted

Air filter housing all cleaned up and painted, couldn’t get any landy spring clips but ordered some JCB ones that are very similar and after a bit of fetteling should fit

Been a while since I updated or in fact done anything due to a sinking cold. That said Ive cleaned and sprayed all of the front seat frames and sliders, cleaned up all the galv pieces and got the galv bulkhead etched and primed. Series style split doors and sills have been ordered from SP4x4...

Driving down to Herford tomorrow afternoon with my youngest William then off to the Malvern landrover show on Saturday for some retail therapy \ spares hunt… heard they have a good autojumble have armed myself with a highlight pen and a long list.

Whooooohoooo! Galvanized bits are back and looking bloody amazing! Apparently theres an extra levy on the standard galvanising service its called the silver service 😂 , or in this case a tip !

Ok so theres more glue on my hands than there is in the tin bit aftet some stretching, pulling and pushing I’m pleased with the results, unfortunately the glue reacted slightly with the expanding foam and theres a slight dip where I’ve filled in the speaker hole. unfortunately I cant do anything...
