It’s not a steering protector at all…it’s a hand rail for getting under it/ back out under it when those brutes break down 😎

What's the spacers for? Take them off and refit the wheels and see if it makes any difference

Update on this. I've now replaced the radius arm bushes and panhard rod bushes with genuine pattern parts and while I think it does feel a bit smoother on the road I've still got the same issue, albeit I don't think as bad. Redid the swivel pin...

Just the bog standard ones, I don't tend to fit polybushes

No idea mate but never had any fail like this before, they've only been fitted about 6 months

I reckon I may have found a big part of the issue. Removed the panhard rod and the bushes are completely degraded after only a few months so those will be getting replaced as will the radius arm bushes just to be sure

No bearing movement on it at all and swivels are all good

Check that the cable is actually fitted into the square housing of the speedo drive on the transfer box. It's hard to see and quite a few times when fitting it I thought mine was in but was actually jammed down the side so I had no speedo. Also...

Did you 'test' it with a prybar ? for excess movement etc ?

Jack up the n/s/f wheel and check for bearing and/or swivel pin play.

It probably never happened before because the springs will have been rusted in place. You could fit dislocation cones if it's going to be a recurring problem
