I don't know if it's of much help in the UK, but here in North America where only very few people know how to drive a manual I would think that leaving the transfer box in neutral would likely be quite effective.

I was just doing a price comparison for service items between the half dozen or so places I'm most familiar with and that I know will ship overseas. I also order by part number (so LPX100590 for a spin on filter), but I noticed a couple of places offered me a short filter option. I didn't look...

I suppose that would make sense that a short filter would require changing more frequently. I replace oil, both oil filters and fuel filter every 6000km (3700 miles). And agreed that the spin on filter isn't hard to get off, but I do find it difficult to get back on sometimes.

What are the collective thoughts on which brands are good/bad for filters? I know that some people only use genuine parts, some others will always buy the cheapest option, and many I'm sure are somewhere in between. Here in Canada Fram oil filters are considered to be the lowest quality option...
