The td6 is the m57? The early unit had a steel block and was a stronger engine. The later m57 was a weaker unit🤔

I want to plonk the m57 and 6 speed auto out the x5 in a td6, this x5 has been mapped to 300bhp and 440ibft, its fairly lively compared too the td6s

You can just see the KM on the cluster. Def looks like a much earlier model than 2000 & GEMS engine !! Don't like the brown inside.

For future reference, at least on a GEMS, 14mm socket on the nut, a pin spanner or something would be best to stop the clutch plate rotating whilst you loosen the nut, but I managed to just hold it with my hand. Remove clutch, there is enough...

That's how I usually do them ...

They'll be pushing against the valve springs. I put mine in with the valve bridge unbolted and then bolted the bridge down (using the sequence in RAVE). As you tighten the bolts down, the valves will open on those valves that are being acted...

Yes dot4 for the brakes, that's what will be in there now. Have you checked your brake pads recently? They are probably worn and some might need replacing
