I’m so glad you’re doing this car justice Ed. I really enjoyed owning and it’s awesome to see it getting so much detailed attention. You’ve managed to be very discreet about my bodges to the drivers footwell/inner wing too!
Really like the blue you’re going for and the details in the...

Totally agree with this. I just don't see that you're going to be happy with the compromise system you'll end up with modifying the DoubleS to suit. It'll always be niggling. I also don't see that it'd be worth trying to make one without the car assembled. I'm in the middle of making a set...

I can try to look it up on the Online Tech Pubs if it's the same as a RRC?
Glad to see you're still plodding along. I recon weather and shooting are good excuses for lack of progress over the winter - been making a new downpipe for the Range Rover since December and still not finished.

To be honest I wouldn't be sure that the cracks in the head would have been an issue any time soon. Heads on the M51d25 used in the P38 are renowned for cracking. I've had three different heads now to inspect and not had one without any cracks at all. One on mom's car at the moment had some...

Be interesting how much longer they'd have lasted wouldn't it. Looks like there's a bit of wear on them as you say.

I found the heavy duty ones on my d1 (now Ed’s) a bit crashy unladen but they were heavy duty spec and coupled with blue heavy duty springs so expected I suppose. I’ve heard bad things about durability but they were on that car since long before I got it and apart from bushings needing replacing...

Have the electronic version but thanks for sharing.

Have you seen the photo of the old vacuum pump from when I changed it? Not that surprised that the lobe is worn to be honest!

I’ve got one of those plastic welders that I bought on Amazon. Basically melts little staples into the plastic to hold it together. Seems to be working well on the bits I’ve done for the Range Rover. Hard dash classics have a lot of bits that like to crack! If it were me I’d give that a try...

I see you’ve already started stripping the dash too. Found the cracks in the centre section around the clock and ash tray? They make a really annoying cracking sound especially when the air-con is on. I did keep meaning to fix them but never had that section back out. Was also planning on...

Yeah, the vacuum pump was new while I had it.

Hi mate. Thanks for taking the edc bits off for me. I’ve got all the wiring diagrams so I could make up any bits that are hiding in the main loom if needed. Could the stray connector have been for the EGR perhaps? Thought all the disconnected bits of that were down by the n/s battery tray though...

There’s a bit of elastic with a popper on the back of the seat to hold it rolled up.

Well the Discovery is now sold and has gone to a new home. New owner is on here and seems happy.
Last time I updated about the range rover I had done a whole load of work but not really fixed much. I’ve been plodding along again ever since, fixing some things, not fixing others and breaking a...

if you’re going to do a resto, this is the way to do it! Going to be better than new.
