Thanks Bob, the garage has it now and checked all the earth straps, he managed to get it running by replacing the starter motor but only drove it off the ramp until it went again... Nothing... Just a very quiet click.... Bugger

This is really interesting, ummm I put a new one on in July then drove to the South of France, I've done 10k in 6 months would it take this long too cook?

Yea couldn't find those earth straps, but of a struggle as I'm on a gravel drive, I managed to get the bottom engine cover off but difficult to see under...

Hello, and Happy Christmas, i was out and about driving yesterday and i got a charge fault indication on the dash so i rushed home and thought alternator, i put the battery on charge as it was low come to start it when it was full and now it just has one very quiet click like its the starter...

Ok update would it be a suprise if I said I managed to remove the hose to reveal the stat on top of the cooler and there was no stat installed... It's already been removed.... I hope I've removed the right hose ha ha fun and games .. will this make a difference to the cause ?

Thank you, yes I have the rear H/C pack I've bought a new EGR stat (just waiting for delivery) and I've bought the sniffer. I was going to swap the stat; flush; bleed and sniff... However I also have an infrared thermometer so will try this now

Bit of an update that may mean something.... The coolant that leaked onto the concrete drive yesterday has dried and it's now black. Obviously when it was wet it just looked pink.
