I have been informed by Alan his son that he passed away yesterday after a very short illness, he joined LZ september 2006 so has been on here a long time with lots of helpful input he will be missed

I've experienced liner movement on my own 3.9 years ago & also on a friend's RV8.
Playing the sound I have to say the timing of the noise does sound like it's in time with the engine's RPM but the sound itself is different to any liner I've heard...
Series 3 land rovers started production from Sept 1971. If you say yours is registered as a 1970 land rover there's been a bit of plate swapping going on.
A while ago I flashed a parked up taxi cos he was on the left facing me with headlights on so he decided to go main beam to be an even bigger prick. Needless to say my Disco with additional front spots won the competition.
Like many older drivers I hate today's brilliant headlights, to the point that I try sticking to well lit roads on the few occasions that a night journey is essential. My eyes are tested annually & meet DVLA requirements.
What I don't understand...
Yes they are a lovely old thing especially in V8 form .. full of character & reliable if maintained properly.
Neither of which attribute can be applied to today's showroom queens.

But then my 37 year old classic is still free of any serious corrosion & has parked in the open for the past 16 years.
The secret is spending money on rust prevention treatment, rather than accessories.
