Series 3 Weber 32/34 DTML on 2.25 petrol vapour lock woes

At the risk of tempting fate it would appear that my 'shed'is now fixed. It now has a swirl pot on the bulkhead, freshly rebuilt Weber, new Facet electric pump with filter under the drivers floor. I have filters in pump, filter housing, extra filter on the bulkhead and in the carb inlet. K&N...

Series 3 Weber 32/34 DTML on 2.25 petrol vapour lock woes

I have come back to this thread as recent fuel/carb issues (I think). If anyone can help 'strap in' for background. Set up is 17H 2.5 petrol in 1972 88" Station wagon. OEM Facet pump and filter on the rubber mounts under drivers floor that came with the engine, added filter on bulkhead, no...

    Absent rear diff breather??

During routine nosy around contemplating tyre swap and I noticed juice staining from rear offside drum, whipped wheel and drum off - yep half shaft seal leaking. Before replacing said seal and shoes I went to check the breather is clear and working - but it is not there! No plug, no broken off...

    SP Galvanised Rear Door

Thanks for suggestions, where I applied Waxoyl in my old MGB box sections it lasted for 20 years, problem was the bits I missed! I have some ACF 50 but that is more of a surface treatment and could get expensive. I'll research the Dinitrol and Dynax S50 @Binks but they advised me that the door...

    SP Galvanised Rear Door

I wanted to fit galvanised rear door too but mine is a Series 3 with the brass guide block and, because I have spare on rear door have x3 rear hinges. SP could not do both but the Paintman one did (I'll put up with having to block the hole for extra lock with grommet). One thing I have noticed...

    MUST HAVE BEEN FAULTY

other thing to notice is that going by where those grip marks are the rod was being gripped where the threaded part extends down the rod so something had to give! I confess I Coppa-slip everything threaded (then use lock washers or locknuts) to minimise such unpleasant events later.

    Shocks for parabolics

Interesting to hear that parabolics may not be necessary/ideal on 88s. In the first iteration the TI springs and Konis were pretty good (particularly compared with saggy original springs and leaky shocks) but I've been putting up with the HD rear springs. Food for thought.

    Shocks for parabolics

Who makes decent 2 leaf rear parabolics (or the best 3 leaf with one a helper when heavily loaded) that people have used? When I restored my '72 SWB Station wagon approx 15 years ago I used TI console parabolic springs (2 leaf front and rear) and Koni shocks - great combination perfect for me...

Series 3 Weber 32/34 DTML on 2.25 petrol vapour lock woes

Ah the snapped manifold stud chestnut! Lat couple I drilled out and retapped from scratch as my stud extractors were not up to the job. I've got a 2.5petrol in my Series 3 with the original Weber that I stripped and cleaned, rebuilt with a kit from Fast Road Cars. I have a Facet lift pump...

    Series 3 Disc conversion help

The OEM dual circuit with servo (standard I believe for a '72?) the one that came with the wagon when I first bought it 27 years ago. Going to give that a proper check over too but have to fix the John Deere first:rolleyes:

    Series 3 Disc conversion help

Update. The BMW discs fitted and the discs and rebuilt are now working well (ie it stops properly now). They feel a bit more wooden than I remember so next step is to strip and clean the rear drums, replenish and bleed the system and I am optimistic that all will be well once the pads have...
