The 1st Land Rover I drove was a series 2A lwb truck cab-3/4 tilt in the mid 60s,I was smitten from then on,as it was diesel, I was intrigued by the 2 key starting arrangement , very exciting for a child in the sixties!
Throughout the years I had all kinds of Series landrovers 1,2 and 3,some which I wish I kept!
The best defender I ever had was a 300tdi work vehicle, more refined than the 200tdi and less electronic gadgetry of the TD5, which I couldn't get on with so after a few months changed it for a disco td5 commercial, much better suited for the td5 configuration to my mind, kept that for years!
They were company vehicles, nowadays I have a discovery 200tdi, rusting away ,a discovery td5, immobilized, a rr classic ,original factory 200tdi and a series 2 in bits.
