OKAY… Firstly I have looked at some footage of a video I was making whilst stripping down the IRD. Luckily the footage includes me removing the ‘Layshaft’ and shows the bearing therein… I can confirm that I am an idiot … and all will be well… 🥸

I think I might have to get in touch with Bell Engineering and ask the question. They themselves refinish IRD’s and they will be able to tell me what’s what and hopefully point me in the right direction.

It might be gummed up and clears itself every now and again. If you can remove it and clean it you will have a better idea of that is the problem or not.
